THE CELEBRATION OF THE HOLY CROSS

The feast of the Holy Cross is a great feast for all Christians to celebrate. It is celebrate on September 14 and all attend to church. People is going there to worship the Holy Cross and see the famous royal which they say it grew when the cross buried. he history of the Holy Cross is this: We all know that our Christ was crucified. In other words he was nailed on a wooden cross, and eventually died. The wooden cross was buried deep into the soil not to be found by pagans and disnongured. So the Holy Cross was buried in the earth for many years. As years passed by and Christianity prevailed Agia Eleni decided to find and excavate the Holy Cross and set it up in the church in Jerusalem for the Christians to worship. So they went to Jerusalem and tried to discover the exact place of the burial.

Unfortunately she confronted a lot of difficulties. There seemed that no one knew the place where the Holy Cross was buried since the people that lived this era had died. Saint Helena started digging all the fields around the hypothetical place. She had the faith that she would find it somewhere. The excavations lasted a long time but in vain. One, as Saint Helen was walking in a field, set a grass and immediately a sweet smell filled the air. What a nice smell she wondered. Where does this smell come from? As she looked around she bent over and cut a sprig from a plant, sniffed it and then realized that the grass, was responsible for this sweet fragrance. At once she was enlightened and cried for a worker who started digging immediately. No wonder! The worker found the Holy Cross where Jesus died upon. For this reason we all celebrate this big feast.
