ThePacificNorthwestpeoplelivedontheNorthwestsidecoastofwhatisnowcalledthe UnitedStates.Thelandherewasfilledwithlushforest,mountains,rock,cliffsandcoastline.The climatewasrainyandmild. IncontrastthepeopleofthedesertSouthwestlivedintheSouthwestpartofwhatishowthe usthiswasanotdrysandyenvironmentwithlotsofrocksandcliffs. ThelushforestoftheNorthwestprovidewoodfortheplankhousesofthepacificNorthwest people.Aclanoffiveormorefamiliesinahouse.Atotempolewasbuiltoutsidethehouseto representtheclanssymbol. UnderthecliffsofthedeserttheSouthwestpeoplebuilttheirhomes.Theyalsobuiltadobe homesofclayontheplato.theyclimbedladdersandenterthehousethrowtheroof. BecauseofallthewatersurroundingthepacificNorthwestthenativeatalotofseafood. Theyalsoatdeer,bear,nuts,andbaresfromtheforest. Inthedeserttheclimatewassodrytherewasnotmuchvegetariansnormanyanimalsso thepeoplehadtorelyonfarming.Theyplantedcorn,beans,squashandtheyirrigatedfroma waterhole.Therewereafewanimalslikerabbitanddeertoeataswell. EventhoughthePacificNWandtheDesertSouthwestNativeAmericansliveddifferentlydue totheirenvironment,theydidhavesomesimilarities.Bothgroupsbothrespectedtheir environmentandhadtoworkonsurviving.
