EC Week 12 UISG EC Division

What Has Been Happening In Our Classrooms?

On Friday, we sent home a survey with your child to share with you. We hope you were able to find some time with do this with your child. It is important to talk through the roles shared within your home. Once we received all the surveys by Wednesday, we will tally the xs to see which family member does the most housework; we will do some reflection also. The Family Country Celebration is just a week away. Ms. Chan has ordered the Thanksgiving turkey dinner for our luncheon. Each country will have a tent with a table available for displays. We will also add a low table for parents who need it for arts and crafts. Please let us know if you need any additional supplies for your activities. In K2 we watched some short videos about families and these have especially helped the ESL children build vocabulary and understand the concepts better. K2Y introduced a reading booklet called My Family last week that K2R will be working on this week. This booklet has repetitive words to help children build on their pre-reading skills and gain new vocabulary. Last Thursday was Character Day and most of the children came in their character costume. We had princesses, pirates, a subway train driver, Harry Potter, Superman, Spiderman, cow, witches, Jesse from Toy Story, a parrot, a bubble bee, policeman, a pirate, and some princesses. Those who did not have a costume wore our costumes from our Home Corner. The children from both classes had an opportunity to share their books with their peers during our morning session. Again, this is a short week as we invite IB experts to come to our school to provide us with workshops that will help us gain more understanding of Action in the PYP. We tell the children that teachers also need to go to school and learn new things Enjoy a long weekend!
