Nick Wood 11-19-11 IVD Observation #2 For my second observation, I returned to the Keystone Boys Choir at the First

Presbyterian Church in Germantown. I met their director, Fitz again and got to watch him and the choir rehearse for their upcoming performance. I had the great opportunity this time, however, to lead the choir in a warm up of my own. They are a busy choir with not a lot of practice time, so my participation was very small. I started my warm-up by having the boys do a big breath and shake out their lips as well as loosen the rest of their face with their hands. I emphasized the posture when taking the breath. I had been lucky enough to watch their warm-up leader the last time I had been there, so I took a note from her and tried to overemphasize everything I did. For my warm-up I decided to focus on breathing and onset, as Fitz did a lot with notes and diction. We did the exercise with the fake basketball and the shh noise you make when you bounce it, which has always been a favorite of mine. My last activity was one I borrowed from the last time I was there. We pull our hand out from in front of us and move it down as we make a siren noise. Teaching these students was very easy and enjoyable, as they are an extremely well disciplined and trained choir. I was nervous having to lead an activity in front of such great instructors, but I felt much better after it all went so smoothly.
