Sub: Notice to ship owners/ ship operators/ surveying authorities/ surveyors regarding carriage of communication equipment on board sailing vessels of 100 GT & above.

Pursuant to instructions from Search And Reacue (SAR) Authorities and keeping in mind National Security for which border management is essential, it is important that every vessel should have appropriate Radio Communication appliance for communication with the Indian Coast Guard entrusted with monitoring, patrolling and SAR responsibilities. 2. The Director General of Shipping hereby directs that all Indian Sailing Vessels of over 100 GT shall be fitted with a VHF Trans-Receiver in order to achieve the above objective. 3. Above requirement is to be complied with, as soon as possible and in any case not later than 3 months from issue of this Notice. 4. This issues with the approval of The Director General of Shipping.
