Week of November 4, 2013

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Its hard to believe it is already November. This week we will continue to work deeper in all of the same units. In reading, each student has selected a goal that they are practicing at home during independent reading. It is essential that every student read for 30 minutes every night, log their reading, and independently write one entry working towards their goal. In writing, students will be publishing their personal essays and continuing to practice opinion writing at home each night. They must complete one new writing entry every night, not just adding on to the work they started in class. We will have a math test on Friday, November 8th on multi-digit multiplication. Last week we introduced vocabulary work into our daily routine, and this week students continue to have vocabulary HW as a continuation of what we started in class. Please encourage your child to incorporate these new words into their oral language. In attempt to build our students homework routines, please sign your childs homework sheet every night after checking that theyve completed every part of their homework. Important Dates: Please also make note that there is no school tomorrow: Tuesday, November 5 because of Election Day. Also, parent teacher conferences will be next Thursday, November 14. Please look for a sign up sheet in your childs homework folder this week.
