Star Rating The star rating appears in the upper third of the poster, it is an advertising ploy selling the

film on its critics star rating.

Actors accredited are shown in serif bold red text highlighting the significance of the actors starring within the film. Actors such as Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling sell the film they are strategically placed in the upper third of the poster so that the first thing the audience reads from the top is their names

The Title The Lighting The lighting eludes to an ominous dark plot. This is shown through the stormy greys and blues of the sky suggesting a storm. The place beyond the pines appears in the centre of the poster in sans-serif bold typography. The modern bold white text is directly contrasting to the stormy blues and greys of the background The undescriptive Place creates a sense of the unknown and suggests themes of death and morbidity within the plot

The darkness within the main image suggests the film contains dark themes that contain a depth of narrative.

The main image The main image introduces the protagonist Luke, the image summarises the main plot of the film through the glowing sign of Trisco Bank in the background of the image. The image is somewhat stormy linking to If you ride like lighting your gonna crash like thunder within the trailer. This creates a branding package which is recognisable to viewers. Release Date The release date is shown in sans-serif red typography and positioned in the lower third of the poster. It is perfectly centred, structurally the positioning combined with its typography is fairly modern which suggests the film takes on problems of modern society.
