Pope Francis straightens out Vatican bank

As a part of Pope Francis' bureaucratic reform efforts (what are they?), the Vatican bank is in the process of undergoing significant organisational changes that will lessen the likelihood of financial corruption, leading to more transparent banking practices. International banking standards have been implemented by the Vatican Bank in light of recent scandals uncovered by financial investigations into Vatican diplomats. This is due to recent scandals such as the arrest of Vatican monsignor Nunzio Scarano in June on charges of smuggling nearly $27 Million euro into Italy from Switzerland have led to this implementation of screening clients and closely monitoring large transactions. In an effort to promote institutional transparency, the Vatican bank has disclosed its annual report for the first time last month, with earnings of $117 million. In line with Pope Francis' papal edict against money laundering issued in August, officials have reported the existence of accounts unrelated to the Vatican city or the Church, with a total of six possible cases of suspicious activity that have been referred to Vatican judiciary. Regulators have also uncovered transactions made from diplomatic accounts to high-risk countries. The culture of sovereignty, secrecy and negligence surrounding the Vatican has seen their institutions involved with corrupt and criminal activity in the past, however Roman prosecutors have hope that the social and bureaucratic changes brought on by Pope Francis will establish greater cooperation with future criminal investigations. Well-written story structurally, however the content seems very vague and loosely put together)
