Visit to hospitals and villages to find out the beliefs and perceptions related to female foeticide and social dimension of the problem. Study should be conducted on people living in villages/ town, people of various communities. Understanding the psyche of women who have undergone female foeticide. Study of awareness of respondents about the legal, social and moral aspects. Study of the law passed by government, loopholes if any, Review of the measures taken to combat female foeticide. Recommendations to handle the issue.

Women have been ignored for decades. However, Indian society displays some unique and particularly brutal versions, such as dowry deaths and sati. Female foeticide is an extreme manifestation of violence against women. Sex selective abortions and increase in the number of female infanticide cases have become a major social phenomenon in several parts of India. It transcends across all castes, class and communities. The girl children are killed even before they are born. It has been observed that the latest advances in medical science have even worsened the situation. The tests like Amniocentesis and Ultra-sonography were originally designed for detection of congenital abnormalities of the foetus, but are being misused for knowing the sex of the foetus with the intention of aborting it if it happens to be a female. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, the after effects of this genocide are fatal and far reaching. And issue must be taken care of immediately.
