The following assignment may be completed individually or in groups of 2. If you work in a group all work must be completed together and you will turn in one assignment labeled with both names. Neatness counts in all of the work and points will be deducted for sloppy or illegible work. Format is always important for all graphs. The work does not have to be typed and graphs can be drawn by hand, but all work should be neat. All of the following data is in years.

In comparing the two data sets, answer/explore the following:

1. Find the mean, median, mode and standard deviation for the data sets. Clearly label the information. You may use the calculator. Be sure to include units in your answers. Write a sentence for each of the data sets that interprets the mean and the standard deviation together. (10 points) Draw a stem and leaf diagram for each data set. What is the shape of each data set? Do you think this is a good choice for a graph, explain.(10 points) Are the distributions similar or different? Do you notice any trends in the data? What do you think could be the reasons (think of 2 reasons) for any similarities or differences? (5 points) What is not clear from the data, or from the way the data is presented? What dont you know? What piece or pieces of information might be helpful to know in better understanding the data sets? (5 points)
