com New Extended Hours We are happy to announce that the GAA Library is now open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday. We look forward to welcoming GAA students and parents from 3:00 pm.-4:00 p.m. for book checkout, reading and homework. Please note that K- 5th grade students must be accompanied by an adult during after-school hours; 6th-11th grade students may come unaccompanied to do independent study, homework, reading, book checkout and research. We hope to see you soon! October by the Numbers Books circulated: 5,536 Average number daily student visitors: 70 Volunteer training classes: 2 Parent volunteers: 15 Total volunteer hours: 49 New Parent accounts (since 9/13): 42 Little Thinkers Book Fair We are looking forward to welcoming the Little Thinkers Book Fair to GAA on November 25-26. Emirates LitFest: Poetry and Short Story Competitions As mentioned in a previous newsletter, the Emirates LitFest, held annually in Dubai in March, is conducting two writing competitions: one for poems and one for short stories.

The theme of the poetry competition is Metamorphosis and details can be viewed at http://www.emirateslitfest.com/writing-competitions/taaleempoetry-award-2/. The theme of the short-story competition is Between Hello and Goodbye, and details can be viewed via the following link: http://www.emirateslitfest.com/writing-competitions/oxford-university-pressstory-writing-competition/ Please note that the deadline for registering your entry is Saturday, November 23.
