Biology
Mr. James Comunale What we are doing in November
The Biology students will be hard at work this month. We are currently finishing the introductory chapter involving Chemistry that is used in Biology. I am very impressed with how well the students are both understanding and building on the concepts. As said in an earlier newsletter, this chapter really does build upon itself. From here, we will be deviating a bit and going over some reactions with water. After this is complete, we will then explore the macromolecules. In the sections involving water, we will be going over why a curve is formed when water is in a glass, what happens when you dive into a pool, and how water reacts when it is boiling.

What to look for

As said in the What we are doing section, Im very proud of how well the students are picking up the concepts related with Chemistry in Biology. Everyday we are adding on new material that is based on what we have learned. Since they are grasping this, I assume the sections on water will be fairly easy. There is a bit of vocabulary that goes along with it, but only about 10 new ones that are foreign to them. When we get to the macromolecules, they will be given many note and vocab pages to help them keep everything organized. However, until we get to them, I dont foresee any major concerns for this particular Biology class. If you have any questions or concerns you can email me at jcomunale@forbesroad.com.
