Act Right Now and Save a Species from ExtinctionThe Importance of Reporting Winter Whale Sightings
When: Saturday, November 16th at 12PM Where: Plymouth Public Library Fehlow Room, Main Library, 132 South Street Presented by: Whale and Dolphin Conservation (whales.org) Contact: Monica Pepe monica.pepe@whales.org

Last winter, critically endangered North Atlantic right whales could be seen from the shores of Cape Cod Bay. WDC, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (whales.org), based in downtown Plymouth, receives a number of calls each year from Plymouth residents about these sightings, but we know that there are many more that go unreported. Fewer than 500 right whales remain and 72% of right whale deaths are caused by vessel strikes and entanglements. To protect this fragile species, it is important that these sightings are reported to NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service. Join WDC and learn what to look for, how to document your sighting, and how to go about reporting this information in the most efficient way possible. WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (formerly WDCS) is the leading global charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales and dolphins. We defend these remarkable creatures against the many threats they face through campaigns, lobbying, advising governments, conservation projects, field research and rescue. Our vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.
