Mr. Lanyon Plot Line Chapter 9 Lanyon was traumatized by the transformation that occurred.

He feels his days are numbered and begins to write an entry on the events that occurred before his expected demise. My life is shaken to its roots; sleep has left me; the deadliest terror sits by me at all hours of the day and night. Lanyon stated (pg54)

After Jekylls last Dinner party Lanyon receives a peculiar letter from Jekyll Directing him (in Desperation) to, with the help of Poole, remove one of his drawers in his laboratory. He is told to return home with the Drawer and wait for a man at 12 o clock sharp. Upon reading this letter I made sure my colleague was insane But I felt bound to do what he requested Lanyon said to himself. (pg49)

The man appeared right at the stroke of midnight as mentioned in the Jekylls letter. He had the appearance of a small evil looking man with large fitted clothes. He was small as I have said; I was struck besides with the shocking expression of his face Lanyon wrote (pg51)

The man seemed to make great haste of the drawer. He avoided conversation and mixed the contents of the potion to make a green tonic. Before Lanyons eyes, only one gulp violently transformed the small man into Jekyll himself. I saw what I saw, I heard what I heard, and my soul sickened at it. Wrote Lanyon (pg54)

Lanyon dies from chronic anxiety and lack of sleep. He was well aware of his near passing. The Past horrific events were too intense for him to handle any longer. I cannot, even in memory, dwell on it without a start of horror. Lanyon wrote (pg54)
