DreamHack Bucharest 2013

Over 12.000 people from all over the world have entered in the Polyvalent Hall to take part at the biggest gaming event in Eastern Europe. The most renowned players of electronic sports from Romania, South Korea, Finland, France, Germany, Kazahastan and Sweden. will challenge each other during the competition. The opening ceremony has involved the organisers getting up on the stage, working the crowds up to a huge countdown ending in the entire room yelling "ROCK ON" followed by the volume on the stage being kicked up, a laser show and normally some pyrotechnics too. The ceremony this year seemed quite flat, no stage presence, just a 10 minute countdown on the screens which seemed to catch out most of the attendees gathered at the front of the stage who were expecting somebody to appear. The third edition of DreamHack Bucharest set a new record: the most powerful Starcraft 2 tournament in history. It means that almost every player of Starcraft 2 was Korean. Also there was one of the biggest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament of this year. Obviously, the median age is quite a low because teenagers love this anomaly called electronic sport As every year, the exhibition was very good, some very well known names in the computing world there, but as with the rest of the event, a much bigger esports focus on the exhibition area with most of the major stands there to both show off their hardware and to host exhibition matches, such as the ASUS stand. The shop was OK, it sold most of the things you would need at an event and most of the exhibitors had a space in the shop to buy their items. And aside from having the chance to see their favorite players battle it out for fame, consistent prize pools attendees will also be treated to a live concert by the most important hip-hop band in Romania Paraziii. The event took 2 days, from 13th of september to 14th in Romanian capital.
