The main difference between a spring jar and an oil jar is that with the oil jar you

do not know when it will fire.Depending on temp of the well and the oil vis cosity these have an impact on the delay that the oil jar will fire. With a spri ng jar the firing point is a predetermined load set at surface so the you know w hat over pull that the jar is going to fire at. Deviation can have an effect on both types of jar but the hydraulic jar can stil l fire even at low pull loads whilst the spring jar would not fire if the predet ermined load was not achieved.
