Discussion: Grade Level Share-Out
TK: Marie shared that she thinks everything is going good for TK.
K: They are learning the Alphabet and working hard.

: 1st Grade is starting Walk to Read on Wednesday from 8:30-9:15. Debbie & Sheila will be taking the
students that scored low on their assessments. Tami will take the students who scored at or about Standard.
Joanne will take the students who scored highest on the assessments.

: 2nd Grade started Walk to Read, its going well. They also started their Rotations and have had their 1

Grade is in the process of finalizing their Walk to Read Groups and they are also collaborating on the POM
for SVM so they can share out what went well and what can improve. 4

: Math: they are finishing up
addition/subtraction and working on Rounding. They are giving the MARS Assessment next week, and then based on
their assessment they will be starting the POM right after. Writing: Narratives Wordly Wise: They ordered
Wordly Wise and they have been focusing mainly on word work. They realize that there are some students that
are familiar with WW and some that have not seen it at all. Special Ed: Lisa talked about the fact that they
are all using the Read Well Program except for her. Lisa and Elizabeth both would like a 5th grade Social Studies
teachers manual because they are both working on teaching the district Social Studies program. Sheila: Sheila
talked about the fact that having only 1 Lucy Calkins Units of Study per grade level is very difficult, especially if
grade levels are trying to work together on planning lessons. Sheila has already placed the order for everyone to
get their own set of Lucy Calkins Units of Study, but is trying to find out when we should receive them?

Discussion: Plan for Kathy Moore Professional Development Tuesday 10/8 3:15-4:30
What do we want to Kathys focus to be on? The Instructional Leadership Team decided to have Kathy focus on


What Writers Workshop should look like at each grade level using the New Lucy Calkins Units of Study and how
is it aligned to the Common Core? What will the progression from one grade level to the next look like?

The Team also wanted to know what the District Expectations are for using the Lucy Calkins Units of Study,
seeing as they are purchasing the kits.


Sheila made a suggestion that we ask our Grade Level teams about the possibility of committing to 3 Units from
Lucy Calkins that we would all agree to do as a transition to CCSS?

Discussion: Further Explanation of PD Plans and Cycle of Inquiry
The Team discussed the possibility of using Writing and The Lucy Calking Units of Study as a school wide P.D. Plan.
Will it make more sense so we can see the correlation from one grade level to the next?
