To increase movement in the classroom while learning about Russian & German culture. Develop listening and kinesthetic skills. Improve motor development. Introduce Sasha! - Tell students that it is a Russian-German dance. Organize students in an open space, with a partner. Teach students to shake index finger at each other while saying, Sasha! Sasha! Ras, Dva, Tri! Next model how to start the clapping sequence with a partner. Right hands: Clap three times Left hands: Clap three times Both hands: Clap three times Knees: Hit three times. 5. Have students practice hand motions with a partner. 6. Put all hand motions together. 7. Next model how to do the next segment: spinning with linked arms Right elbows linked: walk/skip eight steps Left elbows linked: walk/skip eight steps 8. Have students practice this with their partner and shout, HEY! after spinning with linked arms. 9. Then direct students to leave their partners, and say, Dasvadanya! (Russian for Goodbye!) 10.Practice all motions and speaking parts together, and then with music. 11. Finally tell students to change partners, and start the dance over again. Make sure students understand the dance pattern. Remind students to enthusiastically say, Sasha!
