Common Core Unit 2 Concepts: Place the First Digit Divide by 1-Digit Divisors using long division Division with 2-Digit Divisors using base 10 Partial Quotients with 1 Digit Divisors Partial Quotients with 2 Digit Divisors (Mon) Estimate with 2-Digit Divisors (Tues) Divide by 2-Digit Divisors using Long Division (Wed) Interpret the Remainder (Thurs) Adjust Quotients (Fri) Problem Solving: Division Science: We are currently studying classification of living things. This is Chapter 2 in their Life Over Time books. Their Dichotomous Key activi ties are due Monday. We have spent the last 2 days working on this. Social Studies: We just completed a case study of Christopher Columbus and are still learning about other European Explorers and their accomplishment in discovering the New World. Language Arts/Writing: We just finished writing our final drafts of our Personal Narratives. YAY! Students worked so long and hard and did their best work on this writing! We are also studying nouns and will be moving on to verbs this week.

Week of 11/18
Spelling: Students should study their word sorts by doing blind and independent sorts at home. They are given 2 copies of their word list every Monday. One to keep at home and one to keep at school. WORD STUDY TESTS ARE EVERY FRIDAY. Reading: We are currently reading The BFG using our reading skills and strategies while reading this fiction novel. We are also looking at several types of nonfiction texts and studying the FEATURES of these texts. Math: We are working on repre-

End of the 1st Card Marking

Report cards were sent home today. The report card can stay home for you to keep. I need BOTH the conference form filled out and returned to me AND the envelope signed and returned to me on Monday, November 18. Thank you! :) For the 2nd card marking: Students are required to earn 20 AR points this card marking by January 24, 2014. 3 accelerated math scans 70% or higher are due every FRIDAY.
