Resource 2. 1904. 120 Mitcham Avenue. Auburn Railroad Depot. One


story Richardson Romanesque brick, bell-cast hipped roof, stick style
brackets. This rectangular building replaced two prior train depots, the
first constructed in 1846-47 and burned in 1864 by General Rousseau’s
Raiders, and the second built after the Civil War and destroyed in 1904
in a fire caused by lightning. Confederate President Jefferson Davis
reviewed the Auburn Guards at the depot while en route to his
inauguration in Montgomery. Contributing Resource.
