International Atomic Time (TAI) TAI Was Exactly 33 Seconds Ahead
TAI as a frequency standard is a weighted average of the time kept by about 300
atomic clocks in over 50 national laboratories worldwide. The clocks are compared
using 2 way satellites time transfer which links to laboratories to get the signal
and at the same time it improves the stability and accuracy
BIPM was created on 20 May 1875, following the signing of the Metre Convention,
a treaty among 51 nations. It is based at the Pavillon de Breteuil in Sèvres, France,
where it enjoys extraterritorial status.
