Building Design 2 is just a continuation of the previous course we had taken, Building Design 1.

When I completed the Building Design 1 I learned how to make floor plans with proper zoning and its estimate. This course made us familiarized with the National Building Code of the Philippines where specifications of the design were discussed. In Building Design 2, we are asked to summarize the National Plumbing Code of the Philippines and Fire Code of the Philippines and to familiarize us with Mechanical and Electrical Code of the Philippines. In the National Plumbing Code of the Philippines, how to, what to and where to use of plumbing materials are being tackled whereas the Fire Code of the Philippines discussed about the proper places where to put fire extinguisher, the dimensions of a room, stairs, corridor, window, and doors for fire escape and in what place should a fire exit must be place. I had a hard time summarizing the codes since it contains hundreds of pages and some of the contents or codes were keep on repeating. Nevertheless, I finished it. Moreover, we are asked to design our dream house where every room must have a comfort room and estimate its plumbing materials. With this, I was familiarized with all the plumbing materials and where to use it. And for our final requirement, an essential building was asked to be design. I chose a school building. With this, I learned that the Department of Education has a manual for the engineering design of an educational building. Proper dimension with the corresponding usage was given in this manual. My design was an annex of my high school alma mater. It was a building for laboratories. In a matter of two weeks, I finished my design together with the architectural plans (elevation, floor plan, perspective view), structural plans (typical design of beam, column, staircase, footing), plumbing plan and the electrical plan. I also specify the means of egress of the building. In my personal view, I learned that no matter how plenty your tasks are if you manage your time and do it one by one you'll finished it on time.
