Dear Internship Director, I am writing to express my strong interest in the Masters Degree/Dietetic Internship and combined graduate program in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Memphis. I first heard about the program from Professor Mary Catherine Schallert in one of my college courses early on and have strived for excellence in my education in order to meet the requirements. From already being a part of The University of Memphis and its college of Health and Sciences, I have seen first-hand the quality of its professors and their genuine interest in me as a student. Being able to continue under their guidance and expertise, I have confidence that I will be prepared for any future clinical dietetic positions. I believe that I can offer my strengths and skills in whatever challenges this program will present to me. I continue to maintain a gpa above a 3.0, as well as stay involved as a student member of the Student Dietetics Association and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I am a person who is capable of adapting well in any challenging circumstance, flexible to make changes when they are needed. As a private tutor, piano instructor, and nanny I have learned the importance of communication and management within small communities and families. Throughout my work experience, I have been able to reach a large audience and their needs with honesty and integrity. Each of my students learns at different rates, so I must be ready to adapt and be creative to those needs at any time on the job. Teaching in and out of the home has given me opportunities to see family habits on a daily basis, being responsible for planning healthy meals for their children as a nanny, demonstrating the importance of eating well. These experiences will prove to be worthy assets, as I would like to work within families in the work field. As a full-time student and worker, I continue to be encouraged by the positive journey that the field of Dietetics has become over the years. I began doing research into the program and found to my excitement that there was a strong emphasis in cellular nutrition. This remains an area within dietetics that I would like to focus on in my upcoming future, specifically how a lack of nutrient absorption and the intake of toxins are correlated with cancer risks. I believe that I will be able to do so all the better by having the opportunity to be a part of this strong, practical and professional program at the University. I believe that I would be a positive asset to this program. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Mary Reimold
