Last week students worked on creating a Math Game. This week we will continue on with flipped learning. We will learn how to use a calculator to convert fractions to percents, create bar and circle graphs, and read percent circles. The main purpose of Unit 5 is to review the meanings of fraction, decimal, and percent notations for numbers. We will practice turning fractions into decimals and percents, learn the properties of a bar and circle graph, construct bar and circle graphs.

This weeks reading skill is fact and opinion and the reading strategy is prediction. The grammar skill of the week is principal parts of irregular verbs. We will learn the last two roles of literature circles, Passage Performer and Discussion Director. Students will create expectations for their literature circle group and we will begin on Thursday.

Language arts:

Our colonies are almost ready to sail. This week we will determine which type of colony (government, private, religious) each group is. After learning about the purpose of flags each group will create a flag for their colony.
