The Legend of Comedian

Art is something that shows expression or application of human imagination. (Oxford Dictionaries. 23 September 2013).Something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings. (Merriam Webster. 23 September 2013).Warkop is a group of Indonesian comedians who had a real impact because of their motivating comedy and political comments. The idea of the name came from a radio chat called WarkopPrambors from Prambors radio. Radio Prambors asked UIs (Universitas Indonesia) students for a show in Prambors radio. HarimanSiregar, one of the UIs tutor, pointed Kasino and Rudy, the most active and funniest student in UI campus. Then followed by Dono and Indro.Rudy, who originally participate inWarkop, didn't dare to join Warkop on stage, because he had stage fright. Rudy admitted, Once Ive tried on stage, I realized that I was not able to make people entertained. (Rudy interview. Donokasinoindro.com. 23 September 2013)

At their first performance, they are not confident; theyve never been on TV before. After a few minutes they begin to feel comfortable, they performed amazingly, and people love their jokes. They got Rp.1.000.000 for each shows, and then divided into 4 people. After they were satisfied performing on stage for many times, Warkop began making their own movies. From this stage, Warkop began to be wealthier than before. With a fee of Rp.15.000.000 per movie for one group, they were flooded with money, almost every year they starred in a movie in the 1980s. At that time, people called them the legend of comedian, with the highest honor that time. In their career, theyve made about thirty-four comedy films. The most popular from all of them is Gengsi Dong that was directed by Nawi Ismail. In this film, Dono, Kasino and Indro are fighting over a girl. Dono acted as Slamet, Indro acted as Paijo, and Kasino acted as Sanwani. But in the end, the girl chooses other man. At the 80s, the movie was very popular in Indonesia. Its more popular then the western movie. People used go to the cinema to watch the movie. At that time, only the cinemas that have color movies.

Warkop also impacted the comedians of Indonesia. Today, people could see that Indonesian comedian uses Warkops style in making joke. Warkopmade it in a form of rhymes to innovate people to support their show. Many people said that Warkop gave motivation and inspiration towards Indonesia and its society. Theyve made Indonesia became more advancing than before. They also showed arguments about the people, Orang Sunda, orangnyamanis-manis, ekonomis, tetapibauamis. English: Sundanese people is sweet, economical, but smells fishy.Sundanese is actually truly sweet and slow of how they speak. But they are actually not augmenting about Sundanese, but they try to express their emotions through their jokes by explaining the sweetness of Sundanese. Because of that, the comedians today use the same idea or theme based on Warkop. Warkop (Dono, Kasino&Indro) is the first and popular group of comedy that has made a lot of impact to Indonesia; its a great memorial in the 80s. Theyve made a great honor for people in Indonesia, good people, and good society made people lived peacefully. What theyve experience by performing on stage, radio, television and magazines. They are The Legend of comedian.
