Explanatory Note : I P 54 means : The Enclosure for the Electrical Equipment Provides Protection against Dust (First Digit 5) and Protection against splashing water (Second Digit 4). Dust Protection means ingress of dust is not totally Prevented but Dust does not enter in sufficient quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation of the equipment
