Marcus Bullock English 1101 Daily Writing 1. o o o 2.

My dads office in downtown Durham was a special place that was very significant in shaping my literacy narrative. Although very recent, I spent most of my senior year nights in my own cubicle researching schools and scholarships. After the research stage, a myriad of essays followed. This cubicle now became my focus area. I was able to think clear and write multiple essays in one night. In the end all the hard work paid off and I am now attending a great college and dont have to worry about any financial burden. 3. I remember my elementary school having a book fair once every year and I would be so excited around that time. I would walk around in awe of all the colorful books of different shapes and sizes. I usually purchased books that had to do with creating things. They usually came with some sort of kit to build airplanes or instructions on how to make something, such as an origami book. In addition a book I could never pass up would be The Guinness Book of World Records. I also loved seeing all the latest stuff they had in class supplies. I couldnt resist getting a cool eraser in the shape of a racecar or tiger. 4. UNC Charlotte was my second choice. I originally was going to attend North Carolina A & T. At the last minute, literally two weeks before classes were about to start, I changed my decision. I did indeed have a full ride to go to any school of my choice, however for some reason my financial aid wasnt going through at A & T. I quickly called UNCC to let them know I would be attending school in the fall. I am now part of the engineering learning community at UNCC and am glad with my final decision. 5. I can connect to Zach the most. He is an athletic individual that has his head on straight. Most people expect him to make it through sports because thats what most people believe black people are only good atplaying sports. He actually wants to be a lawyer. A black lawyer was unheard of at the time. Mom- helped me with the basics of reading Mr. Smith- showed me how to really write papers Mr. Rose- taught me how to really dissect a book to find a deeper meaning and look at books from different point of views.

6. I believe the internet has had the most profound impact on my literacy narrative. Im sure many people have stayed up all night watching pointless videos on YouTube or searched the web about pointless topics. This led to me being very tired and sluggish during school. It has also had a positive impact too. Any information is at the tip of my fingers. 7. -When was it built? -What was its purpose? -Who was it named after? Why? What did they do? Who are they? -What is inside it? -Who can use it? -How much did it cost? -Maintenance? -Future Plans? -Building Capacity? -Where is it located? 8. The internet gives me the best information. I verify the validity of that information by looking at other websites and seeing if the information corresponds with each other. Something I would never do when researching a project would be using Wikipedia as a direct source. 9. Who is Irwin Belk? Who built it?

How old is it?

What does it offer?

How old is it?

Why is there no A/C?

10. My favorite television show is myth busters. It is my favorite because the show was always unique, entertaining, and kept my attention. They always solve a problem that I can sort of relate to or have heard about. I believe the topic of my semester long project does have this same kind of relationship because I enjoy playing sports, other people can relate to playing sports, and the topic will keep their attention. It also will uncover why things are the way they are just like the Myth Busters do in every episode. 11. I have never worked on an annotated bibliography. Annotated bibliographies are research on a certain topic. This will help our semester long project because it will give us useful information to use in our project. 12. Road blocks I have encountered are procrastination, getting the whole project done, and finding sources that dont repeat the same information as the other sources. Three ways I can get beyond being stuck is by just sitting down and getting started, taking a break, and researching other topics that are closely related and maybe I can find some useful information. 13. I can utilize a pie chart to show the amount of student athletes that make it to the next level, from high school, college, and the pros. I could use a line graph to show the graduation rates of studentathletes is the past couple years. 14. My peers will connect and realize the things going on in college sports. They will be astonished by the numbers of college kids who actually make it to the pros. They will see all the issues and what people are arguing about in my topic. They will see how the NCAA is trying to balance out the studentathlete. 15. I recall making a presentation with my group in my high school engineering class. The mistake I made was not actually knowing what something meant on the slide. I was asked a question about it and I could not give a good answer. I saved myself by saying what all people are supposed to know when they cant answer the question, I dont know the answer to that question, but I can get back to you on that. 16. If I could do something differently if we could start the semester over, I would study more and make sure I pay more attention to detail. Something Ive done well is my time management and planning skills. This worked great, I never really had a problem getting any school work done this semester.

17. A time when I had to speak in front of an audience was at 8th grade speeches. We had two 8th grade classes in my middle school. One class read their speeches one Friday and the next class read theirs the following Friday. My class was first and I wasnt looking forward to reading my speech, so I decided not to come to school that day. I missed my day of reading speeches and though I was slick and gotten out of it. Unfortunately, my teacher made me read mine first the following Friday with the other class. I reluctantly walked up there and began to read my speech in front of 400 people. Surprisingly, I had the best speech/ delivery that my teachers wanted me to speak at the 8th grade graduation. 18. Upload all my papers Revise Papers Fix Layout and Pictures
