-The wood used for the Globe Theatre was reused from The Theatre. Talk about reincarnation! -Exact shape is unknown - It is believed to have been a globe, but is actually a 20 sided polygon -Built by Peter Street

The Globe Theatre was rebuilt 3 times -First time, in 1613, a theatrical cannon was caused a fire when being shot off in the middle of the play. Nobody was harmed, surprisingly enough

- Second time, the Puritans tore it down in 1642

A modern copy of the Globe Theatre stands in London today


-Plays are commonly hosted in this theatre

-Dedicated to Shakespeare and his work

- Referred to as the Royal Replica

The Pit was a viewing area for the common people where they would stand and watch the play The stage was built in the middle of the pit The stage had no setting The balconies were used for wealthy people who could afford higher seated areas

Several of Shakespeares greatest plays were performed at the Globe Theatre including

Hamlet Romeo & Juliet Julius Caesar Macbeth The Tempest

When the Globe Theatre burned down, nobody was injured. One man had his trousers on fire, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

The Globe Theatre was surrounded by houses where animals would be tied down and devoured by dogs.
