Specification stone tables mass standard laboratories

In mass standard laboratories stone tables are used as vibration protection. Mettler Toledo GmbH is recommending 3 different sizes of stone tables. Material The soul of the blocks is of massif concrete. The outer layer is a mix of concrete with gravel ( according definition ) with a thickness of approximately 2.5 cm. The material mix of the outer layer does not affect the vibration absorption of the table. Massif marble can be used too. The density of the material is approx 2300 Kg / m . To increase the stability a bar grid made of glass fiber or carbon fibres reinforced material (minimum bar diameter = 10mm and a maximal inter distance of 15 cm ) must be integrated in the soul bloc of the top plate and the stands. This neglects the risk of breaking the plate. Geometry The borders of the plates must have a radius of approx 10mm. The surface is smoothly polished. The assembly of the tables is the same for all the types. The special vibration pads must be placed in between the stands and the top plate. See following sketch of situation of stands. It must be comfortable to sit in front of the table.
