The Audi A6 hybrid is driven by the innovative combination of a 2.0 TFSI engine and hybrid technology. In the quest for eciency, weve been ahead of the curve for over 100 years. One example of this pioneering spirit is a car body that is approximately 30% aluminium, which helps to lower fuel consumption. Another lies at the vehicles heart: the hybrid drive. The combination of combustion and electric engine means the Audi A6 hybrid is capable of impressive performance at the highest level. It also features a front-wheel drive and multiple award winning TFSI technology. Optimum functionality relies on using the right materials in the right places. Our engineers have made intelligent and exible use of materials such as aluminium, high-strength steel, magnesium and bre-reinforced plastic. The cars advanced aluminium-hybrid construction allows aluminium to be used innovatively in its doors, bonnet and luggage compartment lid. The use of aluminium parts in suspension components such as steering, swivel bearing and wheel carriers also results in a lasting reduction in weight. This enhances not only agility, rigidity and eciency, but also driving pleasure, making the Audi A6 hybrid capable of meeting the highest demands while demonstrating one quality above all: technical excellence.

As a full hybrid, the Audi A6 hybrid can be driven purely electrically and with reduced emissions for a certain length of time. This is made possible by a high-performance lithium-ion battery, something never before seen in an Audi of this class. The lightweight and compact battery powers purely electric driving in EV mode in which the Audi A6 hybrid is almost silent for up to 3km at 60 km/h. It is just as impressive when running on the combustion engine and electric motor combined. The Audi A6 hybrid is another step for us all towards an emission-reduced future and more proof of the progressiveness of Audis hybrid technology.

Eciency and dynamics:

Hybrid power electronics: independently control the ow of energy between high-voltage battery and electric motor and supply power to the vehicles on-board systems. The use of the latest technologies provides for high functionality packed in a compact design.

Lithium-ion battery: determines the performance and operating range of the hybrid drive train. It has 2 major advantages compared with conventional nickel metal-hydride batteries: its high energy density means greater power output, whilst the compact construction considerably reduces its weight. This in turn benets the vehicles luggage space: despite the battery, it has a volume of 375 litres above the loading oor. Active battery cooling improves the availability of the hybrid system and prolongs its operating life. The Audi A6 hybrid is thus one of the rst cars in the luxury class that can run purely on electricity with a lithium-ion battery for a certain period.

8-speed tiptronic: integrates the electric motor with no additional space requirement, and controls the connection to the combustion engine through the clutch. Combines shifting ease, sportiness and eciency. The Dynamic Shift Program (DSP) determines the suitable shifting point itself, and adapts to your individual driving style. 2.0 TFSI engine: is the 5-time winner of the Engine of the year award. The Audi valvelift variable valve control system markedly improves engine eciency and at the same time increases its torque. Combining this with the high torque available from the electric motor makes for extremely dynamic acceleration.

Electromechanical power steering: increases eciency, since the steering force is not supplied by the engine but is generated electrically when required.

Electric motor: combines eciency and dynamism, and acts as either traction engine, generator or starter depending on the driving situation and performance requirement. It has an output rating of 54 bhp and a maximum torque of 210 Nm. The compact and particularly lightweight electric motor is connected to the crankshaft through a clutch. This parallel hybrid concept ensures that the available power is transmitted directly. The result: convincing drive-o performance and acceleration in just about every driving situation.

Driving electrically: As a full hybrid, the Audi A6 hybrid can be driven purely electrically up to a speed of 100 km/h. It is even possible to travel up to 3km at a constant speed of 60km/h. This makes it a vehicle with one of the best speed and range capacity of its class.

Boost: Take the Audi A6 hybrid out for a spin and youll be impressed by the electric motors exceptional responsivenes and strong output. The electric motor acts to boost the combustion engine, briey generating additional output and torque for the hybrid system.

Start-stop system: helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO emissions by switching the engine o when the vehicle is at a standstill.

Recuperation: During braking and in overrun phases, the electric motor acts as a generator, converting the vehicles kinetic energy into electric energy. This is then stored in the lithium-ion battery and subsequently used to operate the electric motor, as well as the cars climate control and general electrical equipment improving overall eciency.

At the push of a button, the Audi A6 hybrid lets you select from three dierent driving programs. Driving purely electrically in EV mode, you can go up to 100km/h with reduced emissions. In S mode, driving is dynamic thanks to the electric motors boost function and sporty engine, and transmission settings. Or choose D mode, which maintains an ecient balance between fuel consumption and performance. Whichever mode you decide on, the Powermeter will keep you informed of the current hybrid operating conditions.

Optional equipment may increase the cars unladen weight and drag coecient, whereupon the possible payload limit and the top speed will be reduced accordingly. Unleaded RON 95 fuel with a maximum ethanol content of 10 % (E10) can generally be used. Fuel consumption details refer to operation with RON 95 fuel in accordance with 692/2008/EC.
