    SQUARE ROOTS & FORMULA

    Square Root
    If x2=y, we say that square root

    of y is x and we write, y=x.


    thus, 4=2, 9=3,196=14.

    Cube Root
    The cube root of a given number x is the number whose cube is x .

    We denote the cube root of x by


    3x

    Thus, 38 = 32 * 2 * 2 = 2,

    3342

    = 37 * 7 * 7 = 7 etc..

    EXAMPLE-1
    Evaluate 6084 by factorization method.

    Express the given number as the product of prime factors. Take the product of these prime factors choosing one out of every pair of the same primes.
    This product gives the square root of the given number.

    EXAMPLE-1
    Evaluate 6084 by factorization method 2 6084 3042 1521 507 169 13

    Thus, resolving 6084 into prime


    factors, we get:

    2 3 3 13

    6084=22 * 32 * 132
    THEREFORE

    6084=(2*3*13)=78

    Find the value of 1 9/16

    Sol:
    1 9/16 =25/16=5/4

    = 1 1/4
