Rail transport in Gabon consists only of the Transgabonais, which covers 640 km, crosses the country from East to West and connects Libreville/Owendo to Franceville. It has 22 stations including Ndjol, Boou, Lastourville and Moanda. Its main commercial purpose as a railway is ensuring transportation for goods, for logs and manganese ore. The railway is operated by Setrag company under an agreement with the government. Duplication of the Libreville-Franceville routes meet the significant growth of the transport of manganese. In the short-term, it will allow Belinga deposit iron ore export associated with the line Boou-Belinga and the port construction in deep water. Description Phase 1: The project includes securing of the track, the construction of multi-modal stations and infrastructure engineering and various networks. Phase 2: The project involves the road duplication of the Transgabonais including the rehabilitation and the reorganization of Setrag.
