Victim Information Program Emergency Financial Assistance Fund Who is Eligible for Funding? 1. Is this person a victim of crime who suffered physical, psychological, or financial harm in the last three months? 2. Did the crime occur within the jurisdiction of the state of SC? 3. Is the victim under the age of 18? If so, is a legal guardian cooperating with the Service Provider during the application process? 4. Have all other services & financial resources been explored? What falls in Emergency Status? 1. Food Emergency food needs (meals, groceries) 2. Clothes Emergency clothing needs 3. Medicine Emergency medicines needed prior to SOVA funding (no Schedule II drugs qualify) 4. Lodging Emergency lodging in the event that shelters are full Domestic Violence 3 nights max. Arson 7 nights max. Elder Abuse case by case 5. Home Repair/Locks Emergency repair/replacement of windows, doors or locks due to a crime 6. Crime Scene Clean-Up Emergency biohazard clean up as necessitated by a crime 7. Transportation Emergency transportation at the discretion of the Program Manager 8. Medical Equipment Emergency equipment replacement damaged during crime (i.e. glasses, dentures) How to Make Use of the Fund? 1. Meet with the victim and assess their needs 2. Determine eligibility 3. Call me for an immediate decision (after hours call 803.563-7501 and leave a message) 4. Fax application and incident report (if available) BEFORE any requests are approved. Make sure services are not rendered before approval (verbal or written) 5. Receive approval code from Program Manager for future correspondence on case 6. Coordinate with approved vendor to have all bills sent to my office by mail or fax within 4 weeks of the time of application. Any bills received after 4 weeks will not be paid! Nicole Goodwin
