From the reading passage above, it is mentioned that Rembrandt is the most famous Dutch painter of the seventeenth century. He becomes the well known person because of his amazing popular painting. But, some paintings which are known as Rembrandts design is doubted in authenticity of those paintings were actually painted by him. One such painting known as Rembrandts design is a portrait of an elderly woman at white bannet. The painting attributed to Rembrandt because it style has the same pattern with the other popular Rembrandts painting. Not only the style of it, but also the womans face representation is much like that of portraits known to be by Rembrandt. However, there are some oddities with the painting which suggest it couldnt be designed by Rembrandt. First thing that becomes an oddity is an inconsistency of womens clothes in the painting. The woman is wearing a white linen cap, which is some kind of servants wear. But the coat shes wearing has a luxurious fur collar which is kind of clothes that a servant possibility doesnt have an ability to purchase them. Rembrandt, who has a special ability in painting, wouldnt have an inconsistency like this. Second, light and shadow in this painting do not fit together as a unity. The face appears get some light which is reflected onto it from below. But, at the below of face is dark. Automatically the light would absorbed rather than reflect it. However, Rembrandt would never do this such a mistake. Finally, from the behind of painting reveals that the painting isnt a work from Rembrandt.
