We missed out on that possible fog here this morning,
the skies were brilliant blue. Heading into Thanksgiving, for
those who have to travel it doesnt sound too shabby no
snow and partly sunny skies are currently in the forecast.
Those living in the Eastern U.S. arent so fortunate.
Rain, sleet, snow and an estimated 43.4 million
Americans traveling to be with family or friends, Happy
Thanksgiving! The winter weather thats been moving
toward some of the heaviest populated parts of the nation
just in time for the busiest travel day of the year the
Wednesday before Thanksgiving continues to spread.
Back to our region and issued this morning by the
National Weather Service, weve got colder than normal
temps in our future. A significant storm system will push
through from Monday to Tuesday next week, although
the models are not yet in full agreement on exactly when
and how much precipitation well get, but with those
colder temperatures it will be in the form of snow. The
one thing NWS does have confidence in is that it will be
bringing much colder than normal temperatures to the
region. If you have outdoors activities that need to get
done, it is recommended to get them done by Monday.

This past Saturday, the Glasgow High School Speech
and Drama team competed in the Roundup B & C
Invitational against 13 other teams. It is not often that
Glasgow is able to compete against southern teams such
as Sweetgrass, Columbus and White Sulfur Springs. The
next time Glasgow will see these teams will be at the State
B competition early in 2014, which is being hosted in
Glasgow.
The team brought home the third-place trophy for
Drama. This is due to the efforts of our remarkable drama
competitors, including: Kylie Cook who took home
the first place medal for serious solo for third straight
meet with her piece The Button. Michaela Cathey was
particularly remarkable, improving on her previous
pantomime placement from last week at third to second
place this week.
Individual placements in Drama were:
Pantomime: Bridger Sanders-third; Serious Solo: Amanda
Kresal fourth; Serious Duo: Kat Geer and Kayla
Harrington third; Humorous Duo: Amanda McDonald
and Paige Schmidt fifth. James Fauth and Rachel Overby
also competed in Humorous Duo.
On the speech side, Rachel Sigmundstad again placed
second in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation. A new team
member, Amber OMara competed in Humorous Oral
Interpretation and placed 4th overall against twelve other
competitors.
Individual placements in Speech were:
Humorous Oral Interpretation: Andy Brandt sixth;
Serious Oral Interpretation: Ethan Jamba third;
Spontaneous Oral Interpretation: Maria Morris fourth;
Original Oratory: Max Knodel third. Also competing
speech was Sija Laffin in Serious Oral Interpretation
The team will be home for the Thanksgiving break, but
will be competing next in Havre on Saturday, December
7th.
KDs Corner
After a hardy rainstorm filled all the potholes in the
streets and alleys, a young mother watched her two little
boys playing in the puddles through her kitchen window.
The older of the two, a five year old lad, grabbed his
sibling by the back of his head and shoved his face into
the water hole.
As the boy recovered and stood laughing and
dripping, the mother ran to the yard in a panic.
Why on earth did you do that to your little brother?!
she asked as she shook the older boy in anger.
We were just playing church mommy, he said, I
was just baptizing him.....in the name of the Father, the
Son and in the hole-he-goes.

I began teaching the GED classes in Glasgow in the
fall of 2013. It has been a rewarding experience and I
thoroughly enjoyed teaching the GED. I would get such
a feeling of accomplishment when a student got their
GED. Most of my students were able to get better jobs
and some went on to college or some sort of technical
training. What an accomplishment on their part.
Three or four years ago Glasgow lost its funding
for the GED class. I continued to hold class one day a
week since that time. However, as with all of life things
change. It has become more difficult for me to get down
to Job Service to hold class. I also have a granddaughter
that I am babysitting. Although there will no longer be
GED classes taught in class, the GED test will still be
given.
There are very good internet sites you can use to
prepare for the GED:
http://www.gedforfree.com
http://www.gedtestingservice.com/testers/test-oncomputer
http://diplomaaccomplished.com
I think the first two are free, but I am not sure. I
did not want to do an application. If you do not have a
computer, you can always go to the library and use their
computers.
Remember the GED TEST WILL STILL BE
GIVEN IN GLASGOW. You can call Mike at Glasgow
Job Service, 228-9369, and he will get you started on the
testing process.
