1) Auto immune disease- a disease in which the immune system attacks the organisms own cells

2) B cell- a white blood cell that makes antibodies

3) Biotic- describes living factors in the environment

4) Cell cycle- the life of a cell

5) Circadian rhythm- a biological daily cycle

6) Closed circulatory system- a circulatory system in which the heart circulates blood through a network of vessels that format a closed loop; the blood does that leave the blood vessels, and materials diffuse across the walls of the vessels

7) Combustion- the burning of a substance

8) Decomposition- the great down of substances into simpler molecular substances

9) Ectotherm- an organism that needs sources of heat outside of itself to flourish

10) Endoskeleton- an internal skeleton made of made of bone and cartilage

Gene- one set of instructions for an inherited trait

12) Gland- a group of cells that make special chemicals for the body

13) Host- an organism in which a parasite takes food or shelter

14) Lymph- the fluid that is collected by the lymphatic vessels and nodes

15) Molting- the shredding of an exoskeleton, skin, feathers, or hair to be replaced by new parts

17) Peripheral Nervous System- all of the parts of the nervous system except the brain and the spinal cord

18) Reflex- an involuntary and almost immediate movement in response to a stimulus

19) Virus- a microscopic particle that gets inside a cell and often destroys the cell

20) Xylem- the type of tissue in vascular plants that provides support and conducts water and nutrients from the roots
