Evolving Landscapes And Perspectives: Keynote Address 2013 Over 300 students from the different medical faculties

and schools of the National University of Singapore (NUS) took time off from their studies to attend the annual Keynote Address on 26th September 2013. Featuring an informal forum discussion with distinguished panellists from various fields of healthcare, this years topic was The Public Service Mission for Healthcare which aimed to enrich students perspectives and also foster better understanding of the roles healthcare practitioners in Singapore play in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. Warmly received by the school, this years Keynote Speaker and Guest-of-Honour was Permanent Secretary of Health, Mrs Tan Ching Yee. A variety of complex and pressing concerns were raised by students during the forum discussion, as they shared their views. 2nd year nursing student Nurul Afiqah said, It definitely provided me a more holistic picture of the healthcare sector which has helped me to understand why we do certain policies. As for Charles, a 4th year medical student, I attended this Keynote Address to look at healthcare from a broader perspective and learn how my role as a healthcare professional will fit into the broader scheme of things. The seminar ended to a rousing applause from the audience as they look forward to Keynote Address 2014.
