Title of Lesson: Microteaching 3: Yoga

1. Goal(s) Learners

will understand the basic principles that encompass a yoga practice FCS Standards and Competancies: 7.5.3 FCS Standards and Competancies: 13.1.6

2. Prior Knowledge

What is your perception of yoga practices and what they can do? Have you ever tried yoga before?

At the end of the lesson, learners will understand the benefits of yoga.

Class discussion of what benefit is important to them. (DOK2) Students will discuss and demonstrate their favorite yoga pose. (DOK2)

At the end of the lesson, learners will know at least 5 yoga poses they can practice when they are stressed.

Discussion of prior knowledge. Give handout of yoga benefits. Demonstrate yoga poses and have class practice poses. Have students discuss among themselves their favorite benefit and/or yoga pose.

What is your favorite yoga pose? What did you struggle with when you were attempting the poses? What pose was easiest for you? Is this something you would do for stress relief? What benefit speaks to you the most?
