Cory Monteith's death ruled accidental.

Updated 3/10/13 The British Columbia Coroners Service has found that Cory Monteith died from a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol. The report, which was released October 2nd, 2013, specified that Monteiths death was accidental. Mr. Monteith was found dead in his hotel room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim on July 13, 2013. Video from the hotel showed the troubled actor returning to his room alone at just after 2 am on the 13th of July. Hotel staff found him just after noon of the same day

when he failed to check out of his room as expected.

Cory Monteith had been battling addiction with on and off for years and had spoken about his battle openly. The star, who was raised in Victoria, was found collapsed on the hotel room floor with drug paraphernalia and empty champagne bottles scattered about. The Coroner, Claire Thomspon, who authored the report confirmed that if someone who has previously used opioids (heroin is an opioid) stops for any length of time, their tolerance may be lessened. Monteith rose to fame on the hit show, Glee, and leaves behind fianc and co-star, Lea Michel. There has been an outpouring of grief from fans and there was a controversial tribute to the star at the 2013 Emmy Awards.
