Issue 1, October 2013 Early Childhood Games Day

Congratulations to Pak Karl Krausse who has been appointed as the interim Principal of SNA for the January June semester 2014. Congratulations to Ibu Endaha new baby boy, Alif Pradipta Zaen on 16 September

Murid-murid Play Group dan Prep telah meyemarakkan Games Day (Hari Permainan). Mereka dengan antusias bermain memancing, halang rintang dan memakai baju serta memindahkan air dengan busa dalam kerja tim yang hebat. Inti dari kegiatan ini adalah mengajarkan anak-anak Senior Prep bekerjasama dan menjadi pemimpin dan panutan bagi kelas Junior Prep dan Playgroup. Hari ini menjadi lebih istimewa dengan kehadiran para orangtua dan pengasuh yang telah memberikan dukungan yangluar biasa pada hari itu.

Sleep and Breakfast!

Sometimes teachers are frustrated when trying to teach tired and hungry kids. Kids who dont get enough sleep (more than 8 hours per night) and kids who dont eat a nutritious breakfast have brains that are working at half speed! They will never do as well at school as they can with enough sleep and breakfast. Parents, please help!

SNA Swimming Club

Next term, SNA will be launching its very own swimming club. Swimming is a great way to stay fit and healthy, challenge yourself and make new friends. Swimming sessions will be held twice a week, before school, at Adi Tirta Pool in Mataram. All high school students are welcome. See Pak Tallis or Ibu Michelle for more information!

In October we have 22 high school students representing Sekolah Nusa Alam at a youth conference in Bali. This is a great opportunity for them to meet and work with other young adults from around Indonesia. There will be speeches, activities and group presentations on topics such as human rights, food forests and farming, ocean protection and animal rights. We look forward to seeing what they learn and put into practice after the conference! Pada akhir term ini kami punya 22 murid sekolah menengah yang mewakili Sekolah Nusa Alam pada konferensi pemuda di Bali. Hal ini adalah kesempatan luar biasa untuk mereka bertemu dan bekerja dengan pemuda-pemuda lain dari seluruh Indonesia. Akan ada pidato-pidato, aktivitas dan presentasi kelompok untuk topik-topik seperti hak azasi manusia, makanan, hutan dan pertanian, perlindungan laut dan hak binatang. Kami berharap untuk melihat apa yang mereka pelajari dan praktekkan seusai konferensi.
Ibu Yuyun and Ibu Wike are the people you are most likely to meet when you visit the school. They are our school receptionists and we like them because they are always smiling and nothing is too much trouble.

Grade 5 students are holding a silent auction to raise money to help Fikri, a boy who needs a heart operation. Bid on the fantastic art in our gallery (school reception). Auction closes Oct 4.

In AS level art, we have received the theme "BROKEN". We then had to create an artwork with that theme. When you think of 'broken', you think of a broken arm or a broken glass, but further research offered many other ideas. 'Broken', can be both physical and emotional. Physically broken would bea cup that fell on the floor and broke into different pieces. Emotionally broken would be, a broken heart after you have lost the love of your life. Working on this theme has been both challenging and exciting. By Jessica Munawar

Saya sangat senang mendapatkan pelajaran Drama lagi semester ini karena ini berarti bahwa Teater Tetas bisa mengikuti lomba drama seNTB lagi. Kami sangat senang melakukan pentas drama tahun lalau, kami memutuskan untuk melakukannya lagi tahun ini. Semua orng semakin dekat satu sama laindan penglaman itu secara seluruh sangat lauar biasa. Tentu saja latihan bisa membuat capek tetapi saat sudah pentas dan mendengar suara penontontertawa dan tepuk tangan membuat semua kerja keras yang kami lakukan saat latian menguntungkan. JADI JANGAN LUPA UNTUK MENYAKSIKAN KAMI LAGI TAHUN INI DI TAMAN BUDAYA!! By Luluk Thank you to all parents who came to the parent information evening.
