Students will understand how the cell membrane works. Instructional Objectives: Students will perform two web quests to learn about Endosymbiosis and the cell membrane. Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) & Key Vocabulary: Endosymbiosis, semipermeable ELPS membrane TEKS: 2H, 4A, 10C ELPS: c.1C, c.3H, c.5F Higher Order Questions: What is another organelle, besides the mitochondria, that is thought to have become an organelle due to endosymbiosis? Student Activities: Students will work independently to complete the web quests. Modifications/ELL Strategies Do not count off for spelling Extra time Time Allotted 8:10-8:25 8:25-8:30 8:30-8:40 8:40-8:45 Anticipatory Activity for Lesson: Show video on Endosymbiosis.

Teacher Input/Lesson Activity: Bell Ringer Take up homework Endosymbiosis video Walk to computer lab Modeling: Direct students to Moodle to pull up websites. Guided Practice: Assist students as needed. Independent Practice: Complete both web quests before the nest class day. Lesson Closure: Discuss endosymbiosis and the cell membrane with a partner. Assessment Methods/Strategies: Web quests will be taken for a grade. Unit test will show understanding.
