Big Ben
Big Ben is not the name of a tower, it s the name of the bell in it. The bell weighs 13,720 kilograms. There is a clock on each side of the tower. The minute hands on each of the four clocks are as high as double-decker bus.

The Houses of Parliament


It is the home of the British government. There are two houses: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. British people elect 650 men and women to the House of Commons. You can visit Westminster Hall which was the meeting place of the first Parliament in Britain in 1265.

Westminster Abbey
It is a very famous London church. It is more than 900 years old. The Kings and Queens of England are crowned here.

Buckingham Palace
It is the Queens London home. There are about 600 rooms in the Palace. At half past 11 most mornings the soldiers at Buckingham Palace ,change the guard. It takes about thirty minutes and hundreds of visitors come to watch.

British Museum

The biggest museum in Great Britain is the British Museum. In it there are treasures from all over the world.

The Tower of London


In 1066 William the Conqueror began to build the Tower of London. Until the seventeenth century the Tower served as a royal palace. Later, it was a prison. Now it is a museum. You can see the Crown Jewels and the Royal Armoury in the Tower. The Yeoman Warders of the Tower, the ,Beefeaters still wear Tudor uniforms and they tell tourists all about the Tower.

Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is near the Tower of London. It can open up so that big ships can go further up the river. It first opened in 1894.

London Eye
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames, in London. The entire structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft).
