Safety signs are used to prevent the accidents in the workplace area.

There are five types of safety signs with different colors as follows:
(i)Prohibiting Signs- Red and White

(ii) Information Signs- Blue and White


(iii) Warning Signs- Black and Yellow (iv) Emergency Information Signs- Green and White (v)Special Signs- White or Red

COLOURS USED IN SAFETY SIGNS


There are mainly three colors used in safety signs.

Each color will have some important meaning. The following Table 6.1 shows the types of colors used, their meaning and examples.

Meaning of safety colors in ISO (R 408-1964)

Prohibiting Signs
These circular red edge signs prohibit the situation shown on the sign by the red diagonal line. Never Warning Sign ignore these signs. These signs Warn of certain risk shown on the sign. Warning signs are triangle and colored black on a yellow background.

Information Sign
