December 1, 2013 Dear Potential Employer: I am eagerly awaiting my first teaching job. I am very excited to begin teaching music, art, or both. I hope to work with you and the students at your school. From as early as I can remember, I have had a desire to help people. At first, I was unsure of the best way to fulfill this desire. It dawned on me that the best way that I can help people is to teach the subject areas that I am the most passionate about: art and music. I hope to instill a passion for the arts in my students and am also highly motivated to help students grow as people. Professionally, I am currently student teaching in music at Langford Area School and will also student teach in art at Central High School and MayOverby Elementary School in Aberdeen next semester. In addition, I have completed my junior field in music education at Lincoln Elementary School in a kindergarten-fifth grade classroom setting and my junior field experience in art education at Holgate Middle School in a sixth-eighth grade classroom setting. I have also had the opportunity to teach a portrait drawing class at the ARCC, Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center, to a class that consisted of sixth to twelfth grade students. These teaching experiences have served as incredibly valuable learning opportunities that have helped me grow tremendously as a teacher. I believe in nurturing every childs unique abilities and fostering their creativity and ingenuity. I want to promote my students higher thinking skills by guiding them to come to solutions and answers on their own. I also believe in incorporating as much real life learning and use of technology into my curriculum as possible. In addition to teaching my subject, I want to teach important life skills such as dedication, time management, perseverance, and leadership. Thank you for considering my employment. If you have any questions, please contact me using the information above.

Sincerely,

Jeanna Jerde
