What is pottery? Pottery is containers made out of clay that are put in stove to be heated. The heat causes the clay to harden. Pottery was made using a potters wheel.

What purpose did it serve? It was used for many different things. It could be used the fetch water, pour wine, hold oils, or use for drinking. Pottery was also made and painted for fun, as a form of art.

The painting of pottery was considered a high art form. The artists often signed their work.
