Planning for Images What is the genre of music?

The genre of my music magazine will be Indie. This will alter my images I use in my magazine as my model will be wearing clothing that symbolizes the genre and reflexs it through the magazine. This is very common in other Indie magazines such as NME and Q as thats the target audience that they are attracting. The ideas and messages represented in this genre is that Indie Artists create music how they want and there not always signed to big producers because of this. Indie artist are portrayed as very laid back with a chilled persona so I will have to highlight the facial expressions and body language in my images to show this.

What group will you be representing in your images?

I will be representing younger adults and teenagers (16-25) because this age group is mostly on the internet and up to date on social networks and media. As my audience is young my images need to appeal to them. I will do this by making sure the model is wearing clothing that suits the genre and having a young model so that the target audience can relate. There will be no certain ethnicity in my images as I dont think Indie ais a certain stereotype on race but does have a certain look.

How will you be representing them through the Mise-en-scene?

My main image on my front cover will be a close up shot of a female model (Samira) and I will have her doing some sort of hand gestures to make the image stand out more and attract the audience. The clothing that my model will be wearing is related to the genre and stereotypical such as skinny jeans, denim and checkered shirts, Aztec and floral prints. The make up on my model will also be quite stereotypical of this genre such as heavy eye makeup (eyeliner) and bold lip colours which will stand out on the front cover. Im not sure if I will have any props in my main image because it might distract from the actual model and as Im having a close-up shot on my front cover, having a prop will make it look crowded.

What camera shots will you be using?

The camera shots that I am using on my front cover is a close up so that it is more intimate with the target audience, pulls them in to the magazine and will look bold n the magazine front cover. The other camera shots I will include on my contents page will be long shots and medium shots as I want a variety so readers find it interesting.
