For my per/post testing I made this written test.

In red I will walk you through what the students were to complete. They were given the exact same test one month later

Name ___________ The students were shown twenty notes on the smart board. They were given about twenty seconds to identify each note. They wrote the note letter name next to the corresponding number below. This was to asses which students could identify note names in the treble clef.

Here the students were to write four complete measure of music in the four most common time signatures. The unit was mostly on time signatures so this is where the most attention was going to be spent in the next few weeks.

6/8___________________________________________________________________________ For the next part of my assessment I wrote four examples on the board of rhythms. The student needed to count the rhythms. For every measure there were a certain amount of pre determined counts (or beats) I used that number to determine the score for each exercise. If they made a mistake then they would lose one point. I use the same scoring technique for the above rhythm exercises.
