ABSTRACT

This Research is meant to know the capability of Hydrilla verticillata in reducing pollutant in tanning waste water, especially chrome (VI). Hydrilla verticillata having the same condition was collected from Blendet, Malang. Then those plant were put down into the artificial media containing chrome (VI) for 10 days to know optimum time of adsorption chrome (VI) by Hydrilla verticillata. This optimum time was used to limited time for Hydrilla put down in media containing tanning waste water with 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 times diluted. Tanning waste water was taken from Leather Tanning Process Laboratory, IRDLAI, Yogyakarta. From this research was found that Hydrilla verticillata was able to reduce chrome (VI) in tanning waste water as much as 95,85%.
