Lecture #6

EGR 120 Introduction to Engineering

The Ethics Challenge Game

This is a great game developed by Lockheed Martin using the characters from the Dilbert comic strip. In 1997 Lockheed Martin had its nearly 190,000 employees play the game as part of its annual ethics training program. Lockheed Martin generously donated copies to colleges and universities upon request. Many companies take ethics training very seriously and may require their employees to participate in ethics training.

Lecture #10

EGR 120 Introduction to Engineering

Description: The purpose of playing this game is to get students to discuss ethical problems in a fun format. Students are divided into teams (Dilbert team, Ratbert team, Boss team, etc). An ethical case is presented and the teams each decide on their team response. Points are earned for good responses and board pieces are moved in order to collect the most tokens. Hopefully, the use of the game will provide a fun format to get everyone involved in discussing tough ethical questions.
