DESIGN PROBLEM
develop a 3-dimension design that embodies (visualizes) the essence of KCAI and serves as a "site identier" for the school
THE SITE
small squares & Dodge building light up at night the walkway measures 182 ft 4 stone walls perpendicularly cut through the space the location has angular, directional lines, emphasizing distance and depth across the street from the Nelson-Atkins Museum
THE DESIGN
& ITS DEVELOPMENT
FIRST DESIGN
wind canopy
rectangular, mobile panels with individual spinning, at circles that interact with the wind
SECOND DESIGN
curved panels with alternating poles, made to look like suspended in the air
waves
MA R Q U E E
The white layerings of the structures twist and bend, referencing the eeting and mobile nature of tents. Just as tents are temporary homes, Marquee also gives the viewer a sense of shelter as it hugs and occupies the walkway.
